It’s a great way to communicate when it’s done right! Here are our top tips to help deliver successful campaigns:
1. DESIGN FOR DEVICES
50% of your marketing related emails are read on devices.
So, if you’re only designing for what they look like on a computer then you’re only doing half the job.
Click through rates are 20% higher if you personalize your content effectively.
Consumers have become accustomed to having their name personalized in your marketing emails and expect this as minimum now. If you have the data to support further personalization you will get better results.
We recommend using the best contact person at your business to sign of the email. Also, if you can code in a strong and relevant “P.S.” at the
foot of your email (using data from your CRM system) you will get the best results.
3. GET NOTICED WITH COLOUR & MOVEMENT
Text heavy, static content gets ignored.
Using emoji’s has proven to increase open rates by up to 10%, since they add a human element to the communication. While you can’t embed video
into your emails yet, the movement of Cinegraphs and animated GIFs certainly work hard to increase your open rates.
4. AVOID SPAM
Spam filters are increasingly sophisticated. Avoid your important message being set aside into spam by:
- Having at least 2 lines of copy for each image
- Ensuring your title is relevant to the content
- Make sure that there is a return path link to your company on the email
5. ABANDON CART MAILS
Having the programming clout to deliver relevant abandon cart emails is expensive. It requires predicative intelligence and can therefore be cost restrictive to some online businesses. However, on average, well crafted abandon cart emails have a 6% conversion to sale. So, do the maths… The 6% conversation may pay for itself pretty soon.
If you follow these simpler tips you should be able to achieve 30%+ open rates and at least 10% CTR’s without too much sweat. That could be a lot of handsome new business from your investment in email marketing.
